Symposium Will Focus on Robinson's Legacy

EW YORK -- The legacy of Jackie Robinson, 50 years after he broke baseball's color barrier, will be discussed by scholars, writers and former Brooklyn Dodgers during a three-day symposium starting Thursday at Long Island University's Brooklyn campus.
Among the scheduled speakers are Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson; Akua Campanella, the Dodger catcher Roy Campanella's granddaughter; former Dodger players, and the writers and reporters Roger Kahn, Jimmy Breslin and Paul Robeson Jr., and Arnold Rampersad of Princeton University, the author of a new Robinson biography.
Daily tickets cost $40 for Thursday, $60 for Friday and $20 for Saturday, space permitting. All of Thursday's sessions will take place in the Health and Science Building, at 1 University Plaza. More information can be obtained by phoning (718) 488-1010.
